Germany [ENA] The 29th edition of AERO Friedrichshafen in Germany held from 19th April to 22nd April 2023 saw over 670 general and business aviation exhibitors from 35 world countries, with a growing number of exhibiting companies again this year compared to previous years.

In this edition's programme: the "Aero Business Aviation Conference" on the development of business aviation at an international level, the "Aero Hydrogen Summit" on the use of hydrogen as a fuel for aviation of the future and the "SETOps Conference on operations with single-engine turboprop aircraft. The second edition of "Aero Drones" was also held, the event on drones for safety, rescue and fire-fighting activities, with the presence of 48 exhibitors and around 40 conferences. Other initiatives include the "Aero Career Day", the event aimed at young people who aspire to a career in aviation.

Nearly 30,000 visitors were able to enjoy the presence of companies such as HondaJet, JMB Aircraft, Air Alliance GmbH, Cirrus Aircraft, Piper Aircraft, Textron Aviation, FLIGHT DESIGN, TL Ultralight and Junkers Profly to name a few. Many previews this year at AERO, Gulfstream Aerospace for the first time at AERO introduced the Gulfstream G500 ultra-long-range jet. France's Daher presented the latest version of its fast TBM 960 turboprop aircraft for the first time at a trade show in Europe, while Junkers Flugzeugwerke celebrated the first show of its newly built Junkers A60 as an ultralight aircraft. The Turboproptrainer P01 by CEA Design from Austria was also seen for the first time in Friedrichshafen.

The Austrian BRP-Rotax presented its new Rotax 916 iS/C four-cylinder engine at Aero Friedrichshafen 2023, which with a mass of 85.8 kilograms and an output of 160 hp achieves an unprecedented power-to-weight ratio in the light aircraft engine segment. JBM Aircraft, leading ultralight manufacturer from Czech Republic, presented its new VL3 Evolution powered by 916iS Rotax engine after three years ago it had presented the VL3 Turbine (first ultralight equipped with the turboprop engine). “We collaborated closely with Rotax to incorporate the 916iS engine into the VL3 aircraft. The fruitful outcome of this collaboration, particularly in terms of improved performance, is noteworthy.” added Jean Marie Guisset, the CEO of JMB Aircraft.

The Extra NG, the latest aerobatic aircraft from Extra Aircraft of Hünxe in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany), is the first aircraft in its class to be equipped with a rigid full carbon base frame, the first in the history of powered aerobatics. Another peculiarity of the new Extra NG is its livery designed by the prestigious Italian brand AircraftStudioDesign by Mirco Pecorari. Mirco Pecorari is a renowned Italian designer, a worthy representative of Made in Italy, who boasts collaborations with the Italian Air Force, the famous Frecce Tricolori and many other important acrobatic and private aviation teams.

Aero Friedrichshafen 2023 ended again this year demonstrating the growth of the exhibition and the sector. Aero 2023 is increasingly the European reference point for General Aviation with an ever more marked eye towards business aviation, but in particular this year too we have seen the predisposition of the participants to the development of technologies for environmental protection. The next appointment is now in 2024 from 17th to 20th April when the 30th anniversary of the exhibition will also be celebrated, again in Friedrichshafen on the shores of Lake Constance.
